How to Create Backlinks

You should all know by now that backlinks are important to any successful search engine optimisation
strategy. You simply have to have a high number of backlinks from well-respected sites (i.e. sites that have a higher PageRank than your own).
What are Backlinks?

Put simply – backlinks are links from “somewhere else on the internet” to your website / blog.

Backlinks are not difficult and only take a minute to create, but remember we are talking about thousands of backlinks from “other websites” to your own for them to make an impression on your search engine ranking.

The golden question is – how do you create thousands of backlinks to your site without it taking your entire life? :) – well I’ll help explain…

Backlinks using Blogs

I often subscribe to and visit other blogs writing about topics of a similar nature to my own. I find it useful to have different points of view on different topics within my area of interest.

The best thing about subscribing to these blogs are that I often will post my comments on various articles followed by my website / blog link for search engines (and other visitors, for that matter) to look at and visit.

Article Marketing

I am an author on a few article publishing sites that have a PR of 5 and over. I like submitting some of my articles to those sites as it gives me an adrenaline rush to see how many folks out there in the world read my published work and make comments on it.

Of course, at the end of my article I publish a great backlink to my site / blog for further reading.
Forums

There are a ton of forums out there but I only choose to focus on those related to the topic of my site / blog and have a good number of frequent visitors. An active forum is always better (and more interesting) than one which is dead.

I always add a link with keyword anchor text to my profile signature…and you guessed it, the more I contribute to the forum, the more times search engines will see my backlink.
Google Alerts for Keywords

Every time I start a blog, I register my keywords with Google Alerts and everytime someone publishes a blog related to the keywords I have registered I will get a notification. This helps me keep up-to-date with what my competitors are doing.
Social Bookmarking Sites

A hidden gem. Who would have thought there would be so many FREE bookmarking sites out there where you can bookmark your articles / blog posts and have search engines crawl them. It takes me a minute to submit an article so I set aside 30mins a day to bookmark my article in 30 different directories on a daily basis. It’s a winner!
