Drupal Open-Source CMS1. Follow the drupal installation instructions at http://buildownwebsite.blogspot.com/2005/11/how-to-install-drupal-cms-in-3-simple.html
2. For the ‘mv’ command, do this from the httpdocs directory:
mv drupal-4.7.0/* drupal-4.7.0/.htaccess ./
3. In plesk, go to your domain (assuming you host multiple domains). Under there you will find Services > Databases. Now, Tools > Add New Database. You can create the database drupal needs. I called mine “homedrupal”.
4. Look at the instructions at http://drupal.org/node/43807 . To log into the database, I had to log in using my administrator username and password.
5. In plesk, go to Hosting > File Manager , httpdocs directory. Follow instructions under CONNECTING DRUPAL. Make sure you click on the little “edit” icon on the far right of the line the filename is on in Plesk so that you aren’t just viewing the file.
6. Make sure you start the necessary lines with a single quote and end with a single quote. I must have spent 20 minutes figuring out that the lines I changed in settings.php did not end with a single quote.
7. When you first login to the site, make sure you change your password. Otherwise, if you don’t receive the registration email, there is no way for you to get into the system to administer it!
8. Once logged in, go to Administer > Settings > General Settings. Specify a valid email address. If you don’t specify this, then you’ll never receive registration emails. I found this was sort of a catch-22: you have to do this the very first time you get into the system because you will never get a registration email otherwise!

CMS News,
Drupal Open-Source CMSIt was a close race to the finish — or rather the beginning — of the Drupal 7 code freeze process a couple of weeks ago. Now that we’re in the middle of the code freeze, I wanted to update everyone on the current status of the freeze, and provide some guidance about where we go from here.
First and foremost, I know that both Angie (my Drupal 7 co-maintainer) and I want to express how excited we are about how everyone really pulled together as a team at the end, and who, by working together, got a lot of great stuff in before the deadline for the “code slush” passed. Of the exceptions we had previously noted (see slides for details), eight of the ten made it in. Read full story
