Virgin Megastore at Villaggio launches proximity marketing for Bluetooth
DOHA: The Virgin Megastore at Villaggio on Tuesday launched Bluetooth Marketing, a type of “proximity marketing,” which is the localised wireless distribution of advertising content associated with a particular place.
Transmissions can be received by mobile owners in a particular location who wish to receive them and have the necessary equipment to do so.
Abdulla Ahmed Jassmi, president and CEO of Marketing Leaders, said they have installed Bluetooth Marketing to Virgin Megastore’s Villaggio outlet.
Jassmi said it makes sense that Virgin Megastore, the store that always promotes what’s new in the market, is the first to use Bluetooth Marketing in the country.
Nassim Goraieb, Virgin Megastore Marketing Manager, said customers of Virgin are the young or young at heart, who are interested in multimedia and new technology. He said Bluetooth Marketing will help the store introduce new products and promotions in an interactive manner and at the same time, help them with their “Green Marketing” campaign.
Goraieb said with the soft launching of Bluetooth Marketing, Virgin will introduce to its customers a new form of getting information on the store’s promotions, trailers, and list of top movies, among other things.
Marketing Leaders, which is in partnership with Medita, the company that launched Proxima, Medita’s product line for Bluetooth devices, three years ago, introduced Bluetooth Marketing in the country a few months back.
“Most advertisers worldwide now want to adopt environmental-friendly ways of doing business and Bluetooth Marketing is the answer… It’s quite different from the traditional way of marketing, like on TV, in newspapers and magazines and the radio… This form of advertising doesn’t use paper, which uses wood,” said Jassmi. He said Bluetooth Marketing is a convenient way of transmitting information.
Jassmi said with the use of Bluetooth Marketing, shops or outlets can send paperless discount coupons, promotional messages, trailers and spot videos; in a supermarket, it can be used to announce special offers, short product promotions and in-store promotions.
“This is a new and exciting way of advertising that is cost effective, eye-catching, eco-friendly, compact and portable… and it transmits the campaign message directly into the customer’s or receiver’s hands.”
